Coating Thickness Gauge
Adopting dual measuring principles of magnetic induction and eddy current, this instrument works by placing the probe close to the workpiece surface. It senses variations in magnetic field or eddy current signals and automatically calculates the real-time thickness of single or multi-layer electroplated coatings on substrates. With supporting analysis software, it collects and stores data in real time to quickly judge whether coating thickness is within tolerance. It performs fully non-destructive testing without any damage to magnet workpieces.
Main Applications
Precisely measure single-layer and individual layer thickness of various protective coatings on NdFeB magnets, such as Ni-Cu-Ni plating, zinc plating, epoxy and electrophoretic coating, to stabilize electroplating processes.
Inspect coating uniformity on electroplating lines, identify process defects including locally thin coating, missing plating and over-thick coating, and adjust electroplating parameters timely.
Carry out incoming sampling inspection, in-process patrol inspection and full finished-product inspection to meet customer coating thickness specifications and complete quality acceptance judgment.
Compare coating data across different electroplating processes and production batches, optimize plating duration and chemical formulation to cut production costs.
Record and export thickness measurement data in batches to build complete quality files, supporting factory audits and traceability analysis for quality issues.
Core Equipment Advantages
Non-destructive non-contact measurement. Workpieces remain intact after testing and can proceed to subsequent processes with no material loss. High measurement accuracy and excellent repeatability. Tiny thickness variations can be captured precisely for stable and reliable results. Supports layered measurement of multi-layer composite coatings, distinguishing the thickness of nickel, copper and base layers to meet control requirements for multi-coating processes. Simple and convenient operation. Readings are obtained quickly once the probe touches the workpiece. Low learning threshold, suitable for rapid mass sampling in workshops. Software supports upper and lower threshold setting, automatically judging pass/fail status to clearly separate qualified and defective products. Automatically stores massive test data. One-click report export facilitates statistical analysis, archiving and traceability to improve the quality management system. Wear-resistant probe with good resistance to workshop dust and slight oil contamination, suitable for long-term continuous routine inspection in production workshops.
