Many buyers get confused by magnet grades such as N35, N42, N48 and N52 when purchasing neodymium strong magnets. Improper selection may lead to insufficient magnetic force or extra cost from over‑specified high‑grade magnets.

1. Meaning of Grade Numbers

The number in neodymium grade stands for its maximum energy product. Higher value means stronger theoretical magnetic performance.

N35: Cost‑effective standard grade with moderate magnetic strength

N42: Higher magnetic force than N35, widely used in industrial projects

N48: High‑strength grade for compact applications requiring strong pulling force

N52: One of the strongest commercially available sintered neodymium grades

Note: Grade number only indicates magnetic energy product, not temperature resistance. If your working temperature is high, N‑series grades may demagnetize. You should select high‑temperature resistant grades marked with M, H, SH, UH or EH.

2. Comparison on Magnetic Strength, Temperature & Price

Magnetic strength: N35 < N42 < N48 < N52

Max working temperature for N series: 80℃. Irreversible demagnetization may occur above this temperature.

Price: Higher grade brings higher raw‑material cost. Price rank: N52 > N48 > N42 > N35.

N35: Gift box magnets, holding fixtures, recovery magnets, general‑purpose equipment under normal‑temperature conditions for cost saving

4. Tips to Avoid Wrong Purchase

Do not blindly choose the highest grade. In most cases, N35 or N42 can meet your requirements if magnet size is sufficient.

For high‑temperature working environment, give priority to temperature‑resistant suffix (M / H / SH), not only the grade number.
